Well, as much as I planned and planned for Halloween I did not get as much done as I would have liked. More ideas than I have time. As for the scary pumpkin I only managed to get one done for Halloween. I have 2 more to do. I will continue to work on them so they will be ready for next year. The food ideas were finger foods because I assumed we would be getting up and down and answering the door all evening. To be fair it was very cold outside to be trick or treating. it was below freezing between 32 and 23 degrees outside.
The food turned out very well and enjoyed by the couple of people that came over. We had a blast even though after all this planning we only had 3 trick or treaters. I made a spider out of frozen dinner rolls. I scooped out the body and put an actual bowl in the body with dip in the bowl. I surrounded the spider with fresh vegetables. The rolls expanded much larger than I wanted and so the spider legs are all touching. That is not what I wanted to do, but oh well. Everything still tasted good. I will improve my spider next year. Maybe.
I made sliced apples and drizzled them with cocoa dark chocolate and caramel sprinkled with a tiny bit of Chia seeds. It was great. Just a hint of sweetness.
I also made fruit kabobs stuck in a pumpkin. This was fun to make and I have ideas to add to this for next year. I had to pre-make holes for the sticks in order to get them into the small pumpkin. I just drew on the face instead of carving it. I think I will change up the fruit that I used also.
As a main course I made a taco ring. It was very easy to make and quite tasty.
I also made a blueberry lemonade. I loved it but not sure everyone else did. I think I will add more lemon juice next time.
As for the movies, we could not watch the ones I recorded. So we watched old reruns of “The Twilight Zone”. All of which were hilarious.
I sure missed having tons of kids coming by and trick or treating. Some of their costumes are awesome and they kids themselves are so adorable.
Till next Halloween!
