I love to sew, and I have been sewing most of my life. The first project that I ever sewed was in 4-H, and it was an apron made out of gingham, which we proceeded to do cross stitch in each of the squares in a pattern. This was popular when I was little. I was so proud of my apron, only to find out that I had stitched the apron to my clothes. At 10 I know that was to be expected by my instructor of all of us. I think half the girls in the class had done the same thing. In the end I did manage to finish the apron, not attached to my clothes of course.
So Spring is upon us and time for some pretty new clothes. This season I decided to start with a new dress. I used a red cotton fabric to make this dress. I think maybe a cotton blend might have been better for the drape. At first I made a simple neckline and pockets. The dress looked like it needed more so I put sleeves on it with it curved up and a button at the peak. I decided to echo the pattern on the pockets with pipping edge of white. It still needed something so I decided to add a shawl collar. It came out cute I think.
