If you have not guessed it by now, I love to read books, almost any book. My goal is to read 200 this year. With saying that I have a Goodreads (https://www.goodreads.com/ ) profile where I keep track of the books I have read, want to read and or purchase. I challenge my friends to read books. We suggest what to read to each other. Here is my profile if you wish to join in the fun of reading. https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/8834315-roxanne Hope to see you here.
Now about the book.
Founder of the lifestyle website TheChicSite.com and CEO of her own media company, Chic Media, Rachel Hollis has created an online fan base of hundreds of thousands of fans by sharing tips for living a better life while fearlessly revealing the messiness of her own. Now comes her highly anticipated first book featuring her signature combination of honesty, humor, and direct, no-nonsense advice.
I found it interesting that Rachel named each chapter with a specific lie. Each of these lies all of us have told ourselves at one point or another in our lives. She found humor in each of these and wisdom and she share with us some of her more private moments of her own lies in the hope to help others and let them know they are not alone.
I love some of her wisdom such as;
“Life is not supposed to overwhelm you at all times. Life isn’t meant to be merely survived - it’s meant to be lived.” Rachel Hollis.
“This is your life. You are meant to be the hero of your own story.” Rachel Hollis
For me the biggest lie I have told myself is that I will start tomorrow. Rachel talks about how much we all lie to ourselves. I have said I would start a job tomorrow, I would start exercising tomorrow, I would eat healthier tomorrow. The list goes on and on.
Rachel said, “Whatever standard you’ve set for yourself is where you’ll end up… unless you fight through your instinct and change your patter.” I don’t know about you but today, I am not going to lie to myself any longer!
