Growing up my family traveled a great deal. In my travels we did drive through cotton fields. Some of the fields go on for miles and miles.
I have never picked cotton. This looks like a real chore. I can see why they needed to create a machine to pick the cotton. Now, loving the country lifestyle like a do it only seemed natural to want to have cotton in my house. I love the wreaths. I am on the look out for other ways to use it through out my house.
My plan was to learn how to make the cotton wreath and then I wanted to hang it over an old window. Which I may still do at a later date. I have not found a window that I like yet. Actually searching out the things I want in my home has become a fun thing to do. When I go looking, I usually have a list of items I am looking for. Being true to myself I am looking for the best deals in all that I do.
On to the tutorial. I collected a small bag of pinecones from the yard. I also cut branches from our tree. My only expense on this project was for a small bag of cotton balls from the Dollar Store.
Branches- as many as you can to fit around a wreath wire.
Cotton balls – 1 bag from the Dollar Store
Floral wire – from the Dollar Store

The pinecones will take a little while to pull them apart. You want all the parts to glue to the sticks to create the base for the cotton balls. I glued on pinecone part and held it a few moments to dry and then another until I had what looked like a wooden flower bud. Once that part was dry I poured glue into the center and then put the cotton ball in the middle of it.
Some of the branches had shoots of small branches sticking out and I created cotton buds on these. I also created them on single sticks. In building the wreath you add stick also with no cotton on them. Gluing the sticks together helps to strengthen the wreath. Making this wreath was actually a lot of fun to construct.
Here is another way to use the cotton in your home.
For those of you who would rather buy a cotton wreath, They will be for sale on my website soon.
