This year, I wanted to create snow globes for the dining room table, but I didn’t want them to feel too Christmasy. I prefer decorating for winter, so I can enjoy the decorations for a longer period. I spent quite some time searching for globes that could be easily taken apart because I wasn’t interested in sourcing all the parts from scratch. After browsing Pinterest, my favorite place for inspiration, I finally discovered the perfect idea: a clay snowman nestled among pine trees. To keep things simple and mess-free, I decided to skip adding any liquid inside the globes.
Finding small enough trees proved more challenging than I expected. After purchasing several sizes, I settled on the ones I found at Walmart. I hot-glued the trees securely to the inside of each globe’s lid.
This next part was far trickier. I used air-dry clay. I had to form each of the clay balls for the snowman separately. I got a little impatient and tried to glue them before they were completely dry, but they just slid apart. I had to wait 24 hours for each one to dry to glue the snowman together. It also made it easier to glue to the plastic lid. I used pine needles for the arms. The nose is made out of clay. The eyes are painted on.
Once I had all the snowmen glued together and their arms in, I painted them white with orange noses.
I added a bag of snow that I purchased from Walmart. It had the same effect as if there was liquid inside.
I had fun making these snow globes with snowmen inside. I hope you enjoy them also.
