A few years ago I bought a embroidery machine. I thought this was the most fascinating machine, and it is very much so. I bought it after attending a workshop learning about how the embroidery machine could become an embroidery business. I jumped in with both feet only to realize I did not have all the information I needed to make this leap. Quickly I discovered I had no experience on how to hoop items to be embroidered and oh my gracious, I had no idea what stabilizer to use with which fabric. Another shock for me was how many more things I needed to buy just to get started. So, instead of starting an embroidery business I spent the next few years learning how to hoop, about stabilizers and how to use the machine, and I bought the digitizing software. Yet another learning curve. No one ever accused me of taking the easy way to do things.

Once I bought all the equipment to embroider then I needed embroidery patterns and something to embroider on. Now there is the expense of the blanks that I will embroider on and oh fiddlesticks, I need patterns to embroider also. In researching online I found a large amount embroidery pattern companies. Now is the time I started to feel extremely overwhelmed. And yet I was excited and determined to continue on this path. The more I researched on machine embroidery, the more that I wanted to do this. I was beginning to see all kinds of possibilities. Not only can I do logos for companies on hats, blankets and more. But, I started to see applications in the clothing I was designing and ways to use the machine to decorate my home.
There is one big thing that I wish I had learned at the very beginning of this venture. It was in creating a cataloging system for all the hundreds of patterns that I was accumulating at a dizzying pace. had I set it up in the beginning I would be just fine. Now I must go back and rename and catalog every single pattern I have bought over the past few years. And now starting to create my own.
Through out my blog I will have tutorials on what I have learned and projects that I am doing. I will include where I got the patterns from also.
